Aesculus x carnea “Briotii”, Red Horse Chestnut

Origin: selected in France in 1858. Deciduous tree with round or ovoidal crown. Leaves 10- 15cm made up of 5 leaflets, dark green, yellow in autumn. Flowers in upright spikes 20cm long, bright blood red, larger than those of Aesculus x carnea, in May. Bears little fruit. Uses and growing requirements like Aesculus hippocastanum.
