Viburnum x burkwoodii

Origin: England. Semi-evergreen shrub with very compact habit and shiny dark green ovate leaves, 4-9 cm long, 2-5 cm wide, underside covered in light brown down. In March-April covered in wonderfully scented globose inflorescences at tips of branches. Flowers are pink in bud, later white. Thrives in fairly damp environments and on reasonably damp soils that are welldrained, deep and fertile. Use: on its own, in groups, mixed hedges.
