Origin: Japan, Taiwan, Korea. Trailing shrub with characteristic branches that have a reddish, scaly bark and aerial roots which cling onto supports. Deciduous leaves, 8- 15cm long, 4-8cm wide, ovate-rounded, dentate, larger at the base, from pale to medium green and beautiful yellow in autumn. Flowers from May to August in flat, greenish-white inflorescences, 15-25cm wide. Very hardy, grows well even up to 1000 meters above sea level.
